01 / Overview

About Nutrition & Education

Nutrition is an essential element of the supportive cancer care we provide at Verita Life. Our clinic will work with you, your medical team, expert nutritionists, and trained chefs to make your diet part of your overall treatment experience, and give you the best chance at recovery.

We don’t offer a single diet for everyone, instead our approach is designed around you and your current needs. Our personalised nutrition plans can be incorporated alongside our wider care programmes including supportive cancer treatments and therapies.

At Verita Life, our team considers an organic and ketogenic diet that is high in healthy fats and low in carbohydrates as a good place to build your personalised diet plan from.

02 / How it works

How Nutrition & Education works

Our chefs and nutritionists will work together to create a personalised meal plan for patients staying at Verita Life. We aim to provide nutritious meals that will fit alongside your overall programme.

Our approach includes:

  • Personalised meal planning nutritional support is adapted to each patient rather than providing a fixed menu across the clinic.
  • Professional nutritional guidance trained chefs and nutritionists will contribute to the development of the meal plan, so you will get healthy meals that taste good too.
  • Nutrition incorporated into daily care ‘your meals will form part of your wider patient experience during your time at Verita Life.

Our approach allows our patients to focus on their treatment, while having their nutritional needs taken care of.

03 / Why it's important

The Role of Nutrition in Integrative Cancer Care

Verita Life places nutrition alongside a number of supportive approaches designed to help our patients focus on their overall health and wellbeing, rather than just fighting cancer.

Our approach includes nutrition as one of the foundations of the care we provide, alongside other supportive therapies like organ support, wellness and education, and low dose chemotherapy.

Rather than being a standalone treatment, a personalised cancer diet is considered an element of your overall cancer care programme. Our nutritionists will also provide you with the tools to continue an anti-cancer diet after you leave Verita Life.

Our programme includes meals prepared on site and individual nutritional guidance. At Verita Life, the plan should work with your medical care and what you can realistically eat, rather than impose restrictions that undermine intake.

06 / Questions

Questions patients ask

Should everyone with cancer follow a ketogenic diet?

No, a diet needs to fit your clinical and nutritional situation. Our diet is based on keto principles but balanced, nutritious meals are our top priority for patients.

What if I cannot manage normal meals?

We can work with your needs - the aim is to create a practical plan for your specific situation, with additional nutritional support when appropriate.

Are meals prepared for me at Verita Life?

Yes, all our meals are prepared on site. We offer breakfast and lunch as well as snacks and smoothies / shakes at the clinic and will send evening meals home with our patients. Our aim, alongside ensuring nutritious meals that help with recovery, is to remove all minor stresses to enable patients to focus solely on healing. Our keto-based diet is predominantly organic and is also halal.
